次回のBUは、12/17日（木）いつものRuby Roomでクリスマス＆忘年会を兼ねて派手にやります！

DJ部門では、超NEW FACE☆ロンドン出身22才のJosh Wattsを投入！！ なんと今回のBUが彼のDJデビューとなります☆ 彼は、最近東京に来て某大学に通いながら音楽業界でも働いています。そんなJoshの、フェイバリット音楽はBloc PartyとかJulian CasablancasとかJusticeとかWhite Rose MovementとかCrystal Castlesなど・・・そして日本のVola & The Oriental Machineも大好きなんだってこれはきっとインディーとダンスのクロスオーバーなサウンドが聴けること間違いない！がっちり踊らせてくれそうです。期待しちゃいましょ〜

そして、おなじみBUレギュラーDJ達もクリスマスの為に個々に素敵なナンバーを仕込んでやって来てくれるでしょう。こりゃ間違いなし！楽しい夜になるよ☆

早い時間に来て頂ければ、今月発売になったばかりのイギリスの伝説バンドX-Ray SpexのLIVE DVDも鑑賞出来ちゃいます。これは去年のロンドンで行われた30年ぶりのライブ映像。家では消して出来きない、、、生ライブを体感しているかの様なでっかいサウンドで見ちゃいましょ〜よ。DVDスタートは20:30からね。クリスマスだからって、キャンディー等の甘〜いスィーツも用意して待ってます。涙ぐましぃのぅ

Join British Underground for our Christmas bonenkai party on 17 December!

We’ll have a brand new guest: Making his DJ debut, Josh Watts is a 22-year-old Londoner who arrived in Tokyo recently to study and do some music-related work. His faves include Bloc Party, Crystal Castles, Julian Casablancas, Justice, White Rose Movement and Japan’s very own Vola & The Oriental Machine, so expect a dancefloor-devastating mix of indie-dance crossover fun.

Turn up early to watch a DVD of legendary British ’70s punk band X-Ray Spex, filmed at their 30-year reunion show in London last year and released this month in Japan. We’ll screen that at around 8.30pm – loud enough so you’ll feel like you were there!

Since it’s Christmas, we’ll have free candy, plus of course the resident BU DJs will spin your favourite UK music. Don’t miss the last BU party of the decade!

Also, BU head DJ Daniel Robson will appear on Friday 11 and 18 December at the Wall Street Sports Bar, just steps from Roppongi Crossing. It’s open 7pm till 5am, and Daniel will play roughly 10pm-12am. There’s free billiards and a good atmosphere, so come check it out!

Also also, our friend Ethan has his Beer Pong event at Ruby Room on 19 December, 8-11pm. Beer Pong is a crazy American drinking game! There’s more info at www.rubyroomtokyo.com

12月2日のBritish Undergroundは、イギリスのッJohnny Foreignerと云うバンドがスペシャルDJをやります！

Johnny Foreignerはバーミンガム出身の男2人と女の子1人のスリーピースバンドでイギリスのDananananakroydやIdlewildと同じレーベルからリリースしています。

今回はBritish Anthemsフェスに出る為に日本へ来日している為、フェスでのライブアクト前だというのに・・あなただけの為にフェイバリットソングスを流しに来てくれます! 新しいっ『Grace And The Bigger Picture』というアルバムは、生き生きとした勢いのあるインディーポップでシャープなギターとアップテンポなリズムにイギリス好きにはもってこいの・・超イギリスインディーサウンド！

メンバーは、ルビールームのオープンマイクのイベントの後にDJをやりますので、もし早い時間に来ればオープンマイクライブも見れます。※オープンマイクとは、自由参加型のマイクパフオーマンスです。

入場の際には、値段が違うのブリティッシュアンダーグラウンドを見に来たと言って下さい。

UK band Johnny Foreigner will make a special appearance as guest DJs at British Underground on 2 December!

The Birmingham boy-girl three-piece – who share a label in England with Dananananakroyd and in Japan with Idlewild – are in Tokyo to play at the British Anthems festival. But a few days before that, they’ll stop in at the Ruby Room to spin their favourite records, just for you.

Their new album, ‘Grace And The Bigger Picture’, is a triumphant chunk of indie-pop; a clash of sharp guitar lines and fast-paced rhythms that sounds defiantly British.

The band members will DJ after the Ruby Room’s open-mic event, so if you get down early you can even see some live music too! Just tell them at the door you came for British Underground.

※『High Grade Gentlemen』は1989年に結成され、スーツとブーツに身を包み、ビートルズトリビュートバンドとして活動しています。ビートルズただ一度の1966年の来日ツアーから40周年を記念して行われたBAND LIFE 2006というコンテストでは優勝も果たしました。また、先日も山野楽器においてビートルズのリマスター盤の発売記念イベントにも出演するなど、活躍しております。

British Underground will celebrate the re-release of The Beatles’ back-catalogue with an all-night party on Friday 2 October.

We’ll have prize-winning Beatles tribute band High Grade Gentlemen playing live, Beatles videos running on the video screens, copies of a special Beatles edition of NME to read, Beatles goodies to give away and more. It’s surely enough to make you want to Shout!

(Please also note that there is no British Underground event tonight, 17 Sept.)

High Grade Gentlemen formed in 1989 and are Japan’s foremost Beatles tribute band. The suited and booted boys won the Band Life contest in 2006, held to commemorate 40 years since The Beatles’ first and only Japan tour in 1966. They also were guests last week at Yamano Gakki’s release party for the re-mastered Beatles discs.

We’ll also have guest DJs and our BU residents spinning great British music till 5am.
